Adulthood Friendship ft Timi Dorgu, Ayo Afolabi & Faith Child
Friday Jul 27, 2018
Friday Jul 27, 2018
“I read a BBC headline the other day that said two thirds of adults in the UK have nobody to talk to about their problems. I was confused because I swear on average people have at least 150 friends on Facebook? Got me thinking about how not that long ago the most important thing to me was how many people I had at my birthday dinner, it didn’t matter if we hadn’t spoken for the whole year, quantity over quality for the pics on Gram. But these days, I just want a few people who I can confidently say are down for me, through the highs, the lows, and even the ordinary. If we’re honest, everyone just wants a few close ones they can rely on, be vulnerable with and navigate lifestyle’s milestones in adulthood with. Not everyday #couplegoals, what about #friendshipgoals?”
Best friends and bromance duo of life Timi Dorgu & Ayo Afolabi join us in the studio to share some gems about their 12+ year friendship - how they’ve overcome some of their most challenging life moments together, how they’ve been intentional about their friendship through marriage and busyness and how they stay accountable. We share our thoughts on what true friendship looks like.
Guest Presenter: Faith Child
Proverbs 17:17
A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity
One of our favourite scriptures and a great depiction of God’s intention for friendship.
If you listened to the podcast or you read this scripture and you’re still searching for true friendship, prayer is the major key, ask God for great friends AND for the character to be a great friend to others.

Dating in 2018: “Let’s be friends, just friends, I’m not ready for a relationship but I expect you to do things with me considered inappropriate in terms of a friendship. We’re not together, you can’t claim me, you can’t be with anyone but me. I need you to be loyal but I’ll do what I want and when you get mad, I’ll tell you were not together. If you catch feelings, I’ll become distant. You knew what this was…I told you, I’m not ready for a relationship” ~Anonymous Truth
Social media, online dating, the intentional dating narrative and situationships are just a few of the things that have made dating as a (Christian) millennial ‘complex’. Beauty and lifestyle blogger Sincerely Oghosa and bachelors Jezreel Asare and Jonathan Gagel join us in the studio to talk about how we’re navigating being millennial, single and dating. Hilarious insights into how men and women think!

“I’ve posted the picture on Instagram, took me 2 hours to pick the filter but it’s cool because people are online now. Last night, I spent most of my best friend’s birthday rehearsing this shot, because I had to certify that when that picture hit The Gram, the comments section would go nuts - ‘Yassss Slay Honey’; ‘Is that you yeah?? ‘Oh ok Ma .’ Two minute have passed... lemme refresh the picture to see how many likes it’s got, I’m expecting at least 200 on this one, I gotta keep my page consistent, gotta make sure my friends know I’m living my best life... ”
Life was a lot simpler before Instagram right?
For the very first episode of Meet The Millennials, we meet social media executive and influencer, Debra Chosen. We spill our truths about our love/hate relationship with Instagram, and how we’re navigating false perceptions, comparison, self-esteem and influence on the platform.
